We do skippered expeditions and if you need expert guiding in the mountain, we have a number of the best mountain guides in Norway to choose from .

Through our network we also offer bare boat charter all along the coast.

Jon Amtrup (41) is the owner of Explore North. He has cruised and raced extensively almost his whole life, and his sailing CV includes two Atlantic crossings, six Bergen-Shetland races, 1000Mile Race, Watski Skagerrak Two Star, Simrad OneStar, and he has been up and down the Norwegian coast a number of times while cruising. He has equipped and refitted a number of boats to sail in colder climates, done weather routing for sailors, and been advisor for several different expeditions.

Jon is the author of the Harbour Guide 4 Bergen-Kirkenes, and is currently working on the Harbour Guide Svalbard. Amtrup is a trained reporter, has a degree in Political Science, and has been involved in starting two PR agencies in Norway.

Sture Ellingsen is based in Bodø with his beautiful Lille Polaris, an 44 foot aluminium Koopman designed yacht. He is a skilled mountaineer, and have years of experience from both summer and winter conditions. He has obtained his knowledge of sailing along the cost of Northern Norway, well known for its diverse weather conditions. Sture has also crossed the North Sea and the Barents Sea to Svalbard numerous times with his own boat.
